Poker Rules
At the start of the Texas Hold’em poker game, the dealer shuffles a standard 52-card deck. In the casinos, most card rooms and online does not play. However, when there is a shortage of Dealers, games may be self- dealt. In the poker games a round disk called the “Dealer Button” moved clockwise from player to player with each hand. The button is to mark which player would be the dealer if the game are self-dealt. This is to ensure that each player has the chance of playing early or late and to post the “blind bets”.
Here is a simple rundown of basic play when playing Texas Hold’em:
1. Blind bets
In this poker game bet blind means that the player will make a bet without looking at one’s cards. The game begin with two players to the left of the dealer button which required to place a “small blind” (usually equal to half the lower stake) and the next player to the left is required to place the “big blind” (equal to the lower stake limit). Most often the small blind puts up half the minimum bet and the big blind puts up the full minimum bet. This action is also known as “posting the blind”.
2. Deal –each player is dealt 2 cards
3. First betting round
The first player to speak is the player to the left of the dealer button. If the player is not playing in tournament he may choose to become a third blind by placing a bet of double that of the big blind before the cards are dealt. This strategy is known as Straddle, it provides benefits to the player where in the first round of betting the player gets to speak last, which enables that player to take into consideration the bets of all the other players.
The first to speak has three options:
Call- To call, player can places a bet that is equal to the Big Blind.
Raise- To raise, player will put out the amount equal amount, plus an additional amount.
In limit games it is a fixed amount and may be limited after a set number of rounds.
Fold- To fold player places his cards face- down in front of him. That player can take no
further part in hand and any bets that has made are forfeit.
4. The Flop – the first three community cards are dealt
5. Second betting round
This round and all subsequent betting rounds start with the first player to the left of the dealer button still in the hand. In addition to Calling, Raising or Re-Raising, players now have the option to Check means staying in the hand without betting until it is their turn to speak again. However, it is only available if no bet has been made in the betting round. Once a bet had been made, the remaining players only can choose to call, raise or fold.
6. The Turn – the fourth community card is dealt
7. Third betting round
Once again, the first player to the left of the dealer button can bet, check, raise or fold and all the remaining players are asked to decide whether to check, call, raise or fold in this round.
8. The River – the final community card is dealt
9. Final betting round
Lastly, the first player to the left of the dealer button started to bet, check, raise or fold and the remaining players are asked to check, call, raise of fold for the final round.
10. Showdown
Now, the players will display their two cards and combine the community cards, then find out who has the best hand wins. However, the pot will split equally between the players if they have the same hand.
